Birthday Songs

Our dear Kimitsu has just commented over at Minnastar that since there wasn’t a song pertaining to Coming-of-age birthdays, she decided to use Friday Party a song which was released on her birthday two years back, as her birthday song.

So, in other words, my birthday song happens to be Bye My Melody by Hirai Ken. Or rather, my Birthday single should be Hirai Ken’s Bye My Melody single. which means I have two birthday songs, which already defeats that tiny girl with her one party song. xD HAHA.

And while I should just be happy that I have such the awesomest and prettiest single as my birthday single, I went to take a look at the translations for the song, which is something I’d never usually do.
And then, I decided Bye my Melody was far too depressing for a birthday song, for me that is, because I’m not the kind to like slash myself or brand myself or do whatever “emo” things. Not that it’s an emo song, it’s just far too sad for a birthday.
But hug, the second song on the single? Ho, that is one damn good song. It is sooooo lovey dovey and you just want to like, fall in love with your bolster or something after listening to it.

At these times I know
that I’m an adult
But I also feel like
I’m a child when I’m with you

Somehow I have a feeling Kimitsu is just going to waltz over and remind me that I AM a child and point and scoff and walk away. But anyways, back on topic, THIS SONG IS SO GOOD! All the lovey dovey ness inside is so simple (none of that I will climb over snowy mountains and fight insane ninjas just to be with you shit) which pretty sums up my view on love. Simple. Like how you can just sit in front of….
Ok forget it, that’s another topic for another day.

It’s okay if if tomorrow doesn’t come
I just want to get drunk on your scent
I want to be one with you, all the way to my heart

If you can feel my heart
beating as I hug your back
it’s because I want to show you
how I feel without using words

Isn’t it so sweet? AWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW. Yes it is (you can’t argue, tough).

I don’t really know what Friday Party really means, but a song with GACCHA FOO GACCHA FOO can’t be too lovely a song. Fun maybe but definitely not too meaningful. POOR YOU KIMITSU. I pity you, really. i’m even willing to climb snowy mountains and fight insane ninjas just to pity you. =D

  1. XDD

If you really want to nitpick – Younha’s first album, HOME MADE KAZOKU’s JOYRIDE single, and the Crystal Kay/CHEMISTRY collab single were also released on my birthday. And if you’re going to argue about lyrics… http://www.kiwi-musume.com/lyrics/homemadekazoku/musication/joyride.html

You’re being forgetful in your old age – women are always right, even against rainbow-dominating ghei men. X3

  2. Younha. Sheesh, I can’t believe you’re bringing her up.

Well, after some research, I found out some rather amazing releases on my birthday as well.

Utada Hikaru’s Ultra Blue (I don’t see how you can go wrong with that) and YUI’s Good-bye days, which was an awesome single imo.

And also RAG Fair’s Furisona Ikuoku no Hoshi no Yoru, V6’s Good Day! and Every Little Thing’s Hifi Message.

Ohwells, it’s time to bring out the big guns. MUAHAHA.
